Build the trip around the local tango week, not just the city. In Buenos Aires, Montivideo, or Paris, the best nights are often distributed across the week, with different clubs attracting different crowds and styles. Check city calendars in advance, then anchor your stay around two or three must-dance venues and leave room for late discoveries.

Dress for respect and endurance. Most milongas expect neat, dance-safe clothing, clean shoes, and a polished look that signals you understand the room. Arrive early for lessons or the first tanda, greet organizers politely, and learn the floor etiquette before asking for a dance.
