Kruševo is North Macedonia's highest town, perched at 1,350 meters among the Balkans' most elevated settlements. This 15th-century mountain stronghold became a revolutionary symbol after the 10-day Kruševo Republic of 1903, and it remains defined by that rebellion's legacy alongside pristine Ottoman-era architecture, traditional craftspeople, and a network of steep cobbled streets that climb vertiginous hillsides.
