Why Visit Jericoacoara

**Jericoacoara**, or "Jeri" as locals call it, is a bohemian beach village on the coast of Ceará state in northeastern Brazil, surrounded by a national park and defined by vast powder-sand dunes, turquoise lagoons, and crystalline waters.[1][2] Once a remote fishing village, it has evolved into a world-class adventure tourism destination while maintaining an environmentally protected status since 1984, with the surrounding area designated as a national park in 2002.[6] The village is only accessible by 4×4 vehicle or dune buggy from Fortaleza (up to five hours away), preserving its isolated character and bohemian atmosphere.[3] Jericoacoara is renowned for dramatic sunsets, world-class kitesurfing conditions, and a laid-back lifestyle where "the weather seems to be moving at the pace of the wind and the sea."[1] The best time to visit is during the dry season (August to November) when wind conditions are optimal for water sports and the weather is most stable.
