The Gokyo Lakes Trek is one of Nepal’s most distinctive Everest-region journeys, centered on a chain of turquoise glacial lakes, the high Sherpa village of Gokyo, and the panoramic climb to Gokyo Ri. It stands apart from the busier Everest Base Camp route thanks to its quieter trails, the vast Ngozumpa Glacier, and some of the most sweeping Himalayan viewpoints in the Khumbu. The trek is defined by high-altitude landscapes, Sherpa tea-house culture, and dramatic sunrise and sunset light over Everest, Lhotse, Makalu, and Cho Oyu. The best time to go is spring and autumn, especially March to May and late September to November, when skies are clearest and trekking conditions are most reliable.
