Why Visit Shanghai
Shanghai is China’s most cosmopolitan city, a place where Art Deco boulevards, glassy supertalls, temple courtyards, lane-house neighborhoods, and riverfront promenades coexist in one fast-moving urban landscape. Its identity comes from the contrast between old and new: the colonial-era Bund facing the futuristic towers of Lujiazui, and intimate lilong alleyways sitting just blocks from luxury malls and high-speed transit. Shanghai is strongest in spring and autumn, when the weather is comfortable for walking, river cruises, and long neighborhood explorations. For skyline views, food culture, and heritage streets, it is a year-round destination, but April to May and late September to November are the best months.
