Red Square, officially Central Plaza or Suzzallo Quadrangle, is a central hub on the University of Washington's Seattle campus. Paved with distinctive red brick, it connects the Liberal Arts Quadrangle with the science and engineering areas. Originally the site of the U.S. Government Building during the 1909 Alaska–Yukon–Pacific Exposition, it became a parking garage in 1969, leading to the brick surface. The name "Red Square," popularized by a student newspaper editor, may or may not allude to Moscow's landmark.
