This Rococo jewel box library, meticulously restored after a 2004 fire, was the intellectual heart of Weimar Classicism where Goethe served as director. The oval hall features galleries accessed by spiral staircases and busts of Enlightenment thinkers. The collection emphasizes German literature and philosophy from the 16th-19th centuries, including rare works from the Reformation and Enlightenment periods.
